Fujairah  Overview

An Emirate renowned for its scenic beauty, Fujairah is truly a beach lover’s paradise. Pristine stretches of sand extend for 90 kilometers along the coast with a whole host of ancient archaeological sites, telling the history and glories of the region.

Topography and Relief : The surface features heights, plains, coastal line, as well as desert areas. The Reliefs of the Emirate of Fujairah is characterized by diversity , ranging from high mountains, although some mountains are not so high-rising - to plain areas, sea beaches, arid areas, and green agricultural oases.

Furthermore, the Emirate is advantageous for the main paired topography, which is represented by the high-rising mountain land topography occupying a relatively small area, and the topography of low-steeped lands.

The mountains are considered a part of the colossal Omani Mountains chain or Western versants located within the boundaries of the UAE. These mountains come very close to the coast of the Gulf of Oman so that only a narrow strip of land separates the mountains and the sea.

This strip of land ranges from five kilometers (5 km) in width at the city of Kalba’ and Al-Gharfa at one end and one kilometer (1km) at the other end. However, it becomes even less towards the end. Fronts and ends of the mountains proceed from the sea and slopes constitute prominent heads along the East Coast of the UAE such as Ras Dibba and Ras Dhadnah. Worth mentioning too is that the low-steeped plain lands lie in the westward of the mountains.

Climate and Weather Conditions : Semi-arid climate and weather conditions is prevalent in the Emirate of Fujairah. Among the major features of such climate is the temperature ambivalence, rarity of rainfall, and high vaporization. In addition, humidity varies on a monthly basis.

Fujairah is also renowned for its high mountains of multiple colours and deep valleys where water flows throughout the year. Other attractions include the healing waters found at the Madhab and Gamour springs, which are laimed to heal rheumatism and some skin disorders. The Wareea’s waterfalls is one of the most beautiful mountainous spots in Fujairah. The three natural marine reserves for sea creatures at Faqeet, Dhinada and Aqah, allow visitors to see a variety of fish and rare sea creatures underwater. The ruins of old fortresses and mosques at bithna and bidiya provide enormous clues to the spectacular history of the region, and provide a great getaway spot for camping and trekking, even the odd barbecue. For those seeking historical facts and a photographic journey back in time, try the Fujairah Museum and the Heritage Village where you can see life as it was many years ago.
